Introduction to Corvids

Corvids are birds that belong in the family Corvidae which includes species such as raven, crows, magpies, and jays. These birds are found in many areas of the world and probably close to where one could be at any given time. They are always watching us, taking advantage of any opportunity to get food, as they can be very opportunistic creatures.

I am writing about these birds because I love animals, and find these birds especially interesting as they are intelligent, and seem to have lots of personality. Scientists have studied crows and ravens and found that they can solve various puzzles, and have been known to hold grudges against humans they do not like or feel threatened by. They can remember faces, and teach their young to remember the faces as well.

I have even witnessed a fellow raven in a parking lot I was in, coming up to my vehicle while I was eating something, and it seemed as if he was begging for food just like a dog would do. He sat there for several minutes, staring at me, and making some noise, turning his head side to side. It was such a funny thing to see.
